Book design and art direction
We were invited by Thames & Hudson to design and art direct a brand book for the iconic jeweller Chaumet. Based in Place Vendome,Paris since 1780, the Maison has been producing exquisite works for over 230 years. Inspired by the craftsmanship and luxury of the house, The Bon Ton created typography using the letters that overlap and interlink like pieces of jewellery. The layout allowed the imagery to ‘dance’ across the page making connections between historic archival pieces and contemporary designs. A soft colour palette is used to highlight the book’s thematic structure. Luxurious foil and fabric finishes are designed to elevate the book to an object that will be treasured for years to come.
